As part of their curriculum, the Supdeco Banjul campus organized a high-quality seminar on the « theme: Transformational leadership and strategic innovation for business growth in the Gambia and beyond »led by Nyilan Senghore, Managing Director of Trust Bank, and his Honorable Halifa Sallah, Secretary General of PDOIS, with the active participation of Nyillan Fye, Managing Director of Global Properties.
The exchange with our students and guests was very fruitful.
The sharing of experiences allowed us to understand that transformational leadership combined with strategic innovation is reshaping The Gambia’s business landscape. By shifting from traditional practices to value-added, tech-driven entrepreneurship, Gambian leaders are bypassing stagnation, stimulating the MSME sector, and accelerating economic growth
The intersection of these two concepts provides a clear roadmap for advancing businesses in The Gambia:
Modern Gambian entrepreneurship requires moving away from seeking traditional corporate or public service roles and instead becoming a value creator. Transformational leaders inspire their teams by decentralizing authority, fostering creativity, and cultivating an environment where employees take ownership of the company’s vision
For sustained growth, businesses can tap into local developmental support and capacity building. Organizations such as GYIN Gambia focus heavily on empowering entrepreneurs through digital skills, while the National Research and Innovation Fund (NRIF) supplements research and development in key economic sectors.
